2. Taipale privacy principle
Taipale is designed local-first. Drive log data is stored primarily on the user’s own device. Taipale IT Solutions does not operate a server to which the user’s routes or drive log data are automatically sent. This does not mean that no data ever leaves the device. For example, Android system geocoding and sharing chosen by the user may use external services.
3. What data the app processes
Location data • GPS coordinates • trip start and end points • route points • trip distance • location timestamps • technical accuracy-related location data Drive log data • trip start and end times • business/private trip classification • trip purpose • customer/project/notes if entered by the user • odometer data if added by the user Vehicle data • vehicle name • registration plate if added by the user • vehicle type Profile data • name • company name • business ID if added by the user • user profile type Reporting and reimbursement data • driven kilometres • reimbursement-related data confirmed by the user • report snapshots / archive data Motion recognition data Android Activity Recognition / Activity Transition signals may be used for automatic trip detection. The purpose is to detect possible driving as energy-efficiently as possible.
4. How data is used
Data is used only for the app’s core features, such as: • recording trips • calculating trip distance • automatic trip detection • forming start and destination places • managing business and private trips • generating drive log reports • calculating kilometre and travel reimbursement figures confirmed by the user Taipale does not use location data for advertising, profiling or behaviour-based marketing.
5. Location and background activity
During a trip started by the user, Taipale uses location to record the journey. If automatic trip detection is enabled, the app may use Android motion recognition signals to detect a possible trip start. While a trip is in progress, the app may use an Android foreground service so recording can continue with the screen off or the app in the background. Taipale does not currently request Android ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION. If the permission structure changes later, this privacy policy will be updated to match the published version.
6. Address resolution
Taipale may convert GPS coordinates into readable place and address information using the Android system geocoding service. Depending on the Android geocoding implementation, the request may use the device manufacturer’s or Google’s network services. Taipale IT Solutions does not use its own server to resolve addresses.
7. Data retention
Drive log, route, profile, vehicle and report data are stored primarily in a local database on the user’s device. Data is retained until: • the user deletes an individual trip or report • the user clears the app data • the user uninstalls the app If cloud backup or other cloud features are added later, this policy will be updated before release.
8. PDF, CSV and other reports
Taipale may generate PDF and CSV reports from the user’s trip data locally on the device. Reports are not sent to Taipale IT Solutions. When the user chooses Share or Save, they select an external service from the Android system sheet, such as email, Google Drive or another app. After that, processing is governed by the privacy policy of the service the user chose.
9. Sharing with third parties
Taipale IT Solutions does not sell the user’s location or trip data. Taipale IT Solutions does not disclose routes to advertisers. Data may reach third parties only when: • an Android system service is needed for app functionality, such as geocoding • the user themselves shares or saves a report to an external service If new SDKs, analytics, crash reporting, cloud backup or other services are added later, this section and the Google Play Data Safety form will be updated.
10. Analytics and advertising
Taipale does not use behaviour-based advertising. Taipale does not send GPS routes to analytics services. The app does not currently use a third-party analytics SDK. If analytics (for example Firebase Analytics) is added later, this section will be updated before release.
11. Legal basis and user controls
Taipale processes data provided by the user on the device to perform the features the user requests. Required operating-system permissions are requested when the relevant feature is enabled. The user may: • deny location permission • disable automatic trip detection • delete individual trips • edit trip data • clear app data in Android settings In this version, personal data is not processed on Taipale IT Solutions’ own servers via a user account or cloud register. If processing expands to servers, the legal basis and this policy will be reviewed before commercial release.
12. Your rights
GDPR rights as applicable: • right to information about processing • right of access • right to rectification of inaccurate data • right to erasure where applicable • right to restriction of processing where applicable • right to object where applicable • right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority Because most Taipale trip data exists only on the user’s device and is not held by Taipale IT Solutions, Taipale IT Solutions may not be able to access or delete the user’s local trip data remotely. 13. Security
Taipale aims to protect user data using the operating system’s app isolation and local storage. We do not claim that data is completely safe or 100% protected.
14. Children
Taipale – Drive Log is intended primarily for users who need business trip logging and is not directed at children.
15. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated when app features or laws change. The Last updated date at the top of the page is always revised. Material changes are communicated in the app when needed.
